Update Dec.22nd, 9:00pm– A call of a structure fire at 13 Blackman Ave. was called in to Bethel Fire Department at 12:13pm Monday afternoon. Bethel Fire Department responded within 4 minutes with Bethel Engine 5, 6 and Tower Utility A1-A2. Engine First Response pulled hoses, regular line in front of building. Shortly after Stony Hill Fire department arrived there was a partial collapse to the backside of the building. Heavy smoke was coming out of every window. One firefighter suffered a slight facial burn; he was treated and released on scene.
Lieutenant Brendan P Ryan said this was the second fire at this house, an attic fire occurred in March one and half years ago.,
Chief Ingram was in charge of the scene and the cause of fire is still under investigation.

A Fire broke out today at 13 Blackman Ave. in Bethel CT at around Noon. The home was the historic Daniel Hickok House.Bethel, Stony Hill, Danbury E-22, Dodgingtown, West Redding were all on scene and put the fire out within a half hour of arriving on the scene. Everyone in the house was able to get out and no injuries were reported. As of 4 pm fire officials were still on the scene and the road is still closed to traffic with no eta of opening. .
Marc Moorash from Bethel Historical Society is very grateful no one was hurt during the fire . “We may have, however, lost one of Bethel’s very historic homes at 13 Blackman Avenue today”.
